November 08 Dialogue, a San Diego-based creative firm, is proud to share its daily campaign to take care of the planet. Its concern for the environment is evident in all aspects of the business and Dialogue continuously investigates the latest ways to incorporate green practices into the everyday routine of the company.
“When clients use Dialogue products, they can be assured we’ve taken multiple steps to make their purchase environmentally sound,” says Sissy Engelke, co-owner. “That our products are also unique, fun and memorable is just icing on the cake.”
Dialogue’s green practices reflect the company’s passion for the planet, from recycled papers and envelopes to reusing materials and shipping supplies.
Since its very beginning, the company has recycled everything that can be recycled. For instance, Dialogue reuses 90 percent of shipment packaging materials. The company reuses every peanut, air pack and nearly every box it receives from others. By reusing materials, Dialogue saves money – and passes the savings on to its customers – as well as does a good turn for the environment.
Dialogue products bring the green theme to clients all over the United States. The standard white envelopes that accompany Dialogue’s card collections contain at least 30% post-consumer content. Now, sealing up your Dialogue cards shows both sophisticated communication and earth-friendly prowess.
Creative products from rack cards and brochures to greeting cards and envelopes – products Dialogue designs and prints for clients – are all available in recycled paper. Dialogue will happily compare both recycled and traditional options for clients to evaluate the affordability of being green.
Soon Dialogue cards will be available for online purchase and in keeping with its green values, Dialogue will package your cards neatly and securely in 100% biodegradable sleeves. The sleeves are compostable and do not harm nature, as well as minimizing the packaging necessary for shipment.
“We know that even the smallest, simplest steps can make a huge difference for the environment,” says Mary Ann Hemus, co-owner of Dialogue. “We hope that by being green we encourage others to add more eco-friendly habits to their personal lives and businesses.”
Dialogue is owned by Mary Ann Hemus and Sissy Engelke, a mother and daughter team with over 30 years combined experience in the hospitality industry.

October 08 - This fall, Dialogue is proud to announce it will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in San Diego. Company employees, friends and family will be lacing up their tennis shoes and donning pink to walk in the 12th annual 5K to continue the fight against breast cancer.
“This is a mission close to our hearts,” says Sissy Engelke, co-owner of Dialogue, a San Diego-based creative firm. “My mom and business partner is a breast cancer survivor of over 10 years. We walk to support her, our other breast cancer survivor friends and all women who seek a cure.”
The team’s goal is to raise $1,500 for the organization, which will fund breast cancer screenings for a dozen women who may not otherwise be able to afford them.
“My sister and I were diagnosed the same year,” says Mary Ann Hemus, co-owner of Dialogue. “Elizabeth lost the battle and I survived. My experience made me extremely passionate about early detection, which was, in my case, a lifesaver. We are honored to raise money to make that difference in the lives of other women.”
One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime. The Komen Race for the Cure raises money to fund education, screening and treatment programs for thousands in our own community and supports the national search for a cure. Seventy-five percent of the money raised stays in San Diego.
The Komen Race for the Cure Series is the largest series of 5K run/ walks in the world. Since it began in Dallas in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure Series has grown from one race with 800 participants to an international series of 117 races with more than 1.3 million participants.
Dialogue’s team goal is to fund breast cancer screening for 12 women who would not otherwise be tested. Donating is simple and tax deductible. To partner with Dialogue please visit the team website here

Dialogue to Donate Percentage of Holiday Card Sales to Aid San Diego Wildfire Victims
Nov 07: Dialogue, a San Diego-based creative firm, will be donating a percentage of their holiday cards sales to the local chapter of the American Red Cross to aid the relief effort for the victims of the 2007 wildfires.
The company will set aside five percent of total holiday cards sales to assist families in need around the county who may have lost everything in the fires.
“The devastation that occurred has caused so many families to be left with so little, it’s simply heart wrenching,” says Sissy Engelke, co-owner of Dialogue. “We’re a small company – but we have a definite responsibility to pitch in and help in the recovery effort.”
Dialogue believes its holiday cards – sent by their clients in the spirit of joy, happiness and gratitude – are the perfect vehicle to help collect donations for the wildfire victims. “It just seems appropriate that our holiday cards that are meant to reach out and touch clients will also be reaching families who need help this season,” says Mary Ann Hemus, co-owner of Dialogue. “It’s perpetuating goodwill, which feels great!”
Dialogue is offering up a variety of holiday greeting cards this season, including stylish folded cards and also unique photo greetings – all with a fresh, modern look that allow companies to stand out from their competition. [back to top]
Pumpkins, witches, bats and ghosts – oh my!
Oct 07: Halloween is sneaking up on sales teams, and the holiday is the perfect opportunity to call on clients – with tricks or treats. Elevate your image when you pair your sales call treats with Dialogue’s hip Halloween card and gift tag line – personalized to reflect your property.
Dialogue’s 2007 Halloween Collection features four frightfully clever designs – offered in your choice of a folded greeting or flat notecard – as well as multiple gift tag options. Personalize your cards and tags with your property’s name, contact information and a custom spooky message, all at no additional charge!
“What we really wanted to provide this Halloween was a way for sales teams to dress up their sales calls,” says Mary Ann Hemus, co-owner of Dialogue. “Instead of attaching the typical business card to a treat for a client, our tags convey the same contact information with style and holiday spirit – allowing the client to see first-hand just how creative the team can be.”
In addition to local sales calls, Dialogue’s 2007 Halloween Collection is perfect for mailing holiday treats to out-of-town clients. “Putting you and your property front and center in your client’s mind is as easy as sending a card,” says Sissy Engelke, co-owner of Dialogue. “Our designs are a fun, easy way to score those important creativity points – a great plus when your client is thinking about where to host their upcoming corporate holiday events.”
Dialogue’s Halloween Collection offers hotels affordable personalization – above and beyond the typical custom greeting. Instead of a basic card with a custom imprint inside, Dialogue’s greetings offer customization on the front, inside and reverse of the card – giving you a unique, high-end image for less than generic cards from your local store.
“An added benefit of Dialogue’s Halloween Collection is the time-saving aspect for the sales team,” says Hemus. “Every year, associates find themselves scurrying at the last minute, trying to find cards or tags that reflect their property. Save your time for selling – and have everything in place, on time, and looking fabulous.”[back to top]
Dive Into Surf and Sand, a Greeting Card Line for Coastal Hotels
Aug 07: Dialogue, a creative firm specializing in hip, professional stationery for the hotel industry, is excited to introduce Surf and Sand, a line of greeting cards and guest amenities designed with the coastal, seaside hotel in mind.
The Surf and Sand collection features a variety of designs that feature warm, sunny color palettes that promote iconic images of classic palm trees, vintage surfboards and bright beachballs, perfect to provide clients the visual reminder of your coastal destination. Surf and Sand evokes the seaside, summer-inspired lifestyle that allows these hotels stand out from the competition.
“Our Surf and Sand collection is an incredible tool for sales teams who are looking for a fresh way to contact clients,” Mary Ann Hemus, Dialogue’s co-owner says. “Imagine sending correspondence that truly reflects your property – no more white logo-ed notecards! Hotel clients receive tons of email, faxes and phone calls. But something that really catches their eye is a vibrant, handwritten note.”
Dialogue offers a unique greeting card experience. Cards are pre-designed, using the graphics, fonts and layouts they feel best represent the card.
“And then, the fun begins,” says Sissy Engelke, co-owner. “We customize our designs using our clients’ own colors – pulled from their brand identity or preferences. Then, we add their logo to the card – front, inside or back. Finally, we apply any message they wish. The best part is that all of our customization is free!”
Affordability of the products and understanding the reality of hotel budgets is paramount to Dialogue – with over 30 years combined hotel experience, co-owners Hemus and Engelke understand the need to watch every penny spent on marketing – while executing creative, fresh ideas that keep sales teams on target.
This approach represents freedom for the hotel sales team. No more set-up fees for custom printing. No coordination with agencies and designers who have limited, if any, hotel experience. A product that your team can send proudly – and one that your clients will display on their desks for weeks.[back to top]
